RABBI
DR. DAVID FRIEDMAN
B'rit Hadasha was pleased
to welcome Rabbi Dr. David Friedman to Memphis in the Summer of 2006:
July
14th, 2006
David Pifer Memorial Lectureship
B'rit Hadasha Messianic Jewish Synagogue
Memphis, TN
"They
Loved the Torah:
What Yeshua's First Followers Really Thought About the Law"
Addressing
this often misunderstood issue, Dr. Friedman answered questions like,
"Did Yeshua observe the Law? Did Paul teach his congregations to
abandon the Torah? Was Peter persuaded that the Commandments were cancelled?"
A Q&A time followed the lecture, with an Oneg (refreshments) afterward.
The event was well attended, and the congregation really enjoyed its
time with Dr. Friedman. Since the week he spent with the congregation
occurred during the time of the Israel-Hezbollah War, "Dr. F."
was able to give fresh perspective to the congregation on the political
complications of the issue. He was also able to meet with area pastors
as well.

ABOUT RABBI DR. DAVID FRIEDMAN
Dr.
David Friedman was raised in the U.S. in a Conservative Jewish
home and came to faith in Yeshua in 1972. He and his wife have lived
in Israel since 1980, and made Aliyah (gained citizenship) three years
later. In his Israeli military career he served as a combat soldier,
including time in an Anti-terrorism unit, and was a public spokesperson
for the Israeli Defense Force. Drawing from his personal and professional
dealings with terrorism, he wrote a book entitled “Sudden Terror”
(a book on Islamic terrorism from an Israeli perspective).
After earning
a Master’s degree in Arabic, Friedman attained his Ph.D. in Judaic
Studies. In his academic career he taught high school, served as Academic
Dean and Professor of Jewish Studies at Israel College of the Bible
in Jerusalem, was an instructor at the College of Judea and Samaria
and taught at the Open University in Tel Aviv. Dr. Friedman has also
taught at the Netzer David International Yeshiva in Florida. Ordained
as a Rabbi by the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations, Dr. Friedman
also co-leads Kehilat Neveh Tsion in Jerusalem. He is the author
