MESSIANIC
JUDAISM:
AN INTER-FAITH ALTERNATIVE
Jewish/Christian inter-faith marriage is typically a complex problem.
Where do you get married? Who will officiate the service? Will the kids
be considered Jewish or not? Will you celebrate Hannukah or Christmas?
Easter or Passover? Will you have a bris or a christening? Bar
Mitzvah or baptism? Whose parents do you please? These and many other
issues become hot topics around the home every holiday season and also
during significant stages of life.
While some inter-faith couples
pick one religion or the other, many choose to have little or no religion
at all. But is there another solution to this dilemma? We believe so!
For many “inter-faith”
couples, Messianic Judaism has brought unity to their homes. Affirming
the New Testament as well as Jewish life and practice, Messianic Judaism
is a revival of the beliefs and practices of those ancient Jewish people
who followed Jesus as Messiah but stayed part of the Jewish communities.
In the Messianic community
families receive instruction in both Torah and Besorah (Gospel), Moses
and Messiah. Services are in Hebrew and English, and incorporate both
traditional Hebrew liturgy and contemporary worship music. Joyful dance
and corporate celebration of the Jewish holidays, accompanied by rich
teaching from God’s Word and great fellowship all make the Messianic
Jewish alternative an inviting opportunity.
Inter-faith couples know what its like to have their feet in two worlds.
So do we. If Messianic Judaism sounds like the alternative you’re
looking for, come check us out. Visitors are always welcome.
