Dear B’rit
Family,
I want to take this opportunity to rejoice with you at this anniversary
milestone. The years have flown by but the memories of those early
years will always be with us and in our hearts. Even now I think
of those who have gone to be with our Lord. They were precious brothers
and sisters. Each contributed significantly to the foundation of
the congregation you now enjoy. Like a great crowd of witnesses
they would beckon to each of us to press on toward the high calling.
I leave today for my eighth trip to Israel. Theresa and I will be
helping to lead men and women's Encounter Retreats on the shores
of the Kinneret. 200 Israelis will participate and we are expecting
to see the Holy Spirit poured out on the participants. God is still
in the business of saving souls, freeing them from bondages, delivering
them from the demonic, and healing the broken hearted. I hope that
you too are experiencing the fresh winds of the Holy Spirit this
year. We have seen his touch upon brothers and sisters in Siberia,
Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Barbados, Belize, and Thailand all in the
last six months. Now the Lord is taking us to Israel. Please cover
us in your prayers. I'd love to come and give a full report when
I return at the end of March. We continue to pray for your health
issues and for the favor of the Lord to rest upon the congregation.
Again, congratulations on this anniversary. May there be many more,
and may we celebrate together what the Lord has done.
Your friend and brother,
Rick Sharp
(Rick was the first Congregational Leader of B’rit Hadasha
from 1982-1984)

NEW
BUILDING PROJECT “MOVING FORWARD” SAYS BUILDING COMMITTEE
Following various delays over the last year there has been some significant
new developments in the new building project. The original plans have
been revised (the previous design had to be revised due to the cost),
and a new floor plan has been approved. The exterior is still being
designed, but will be based on the original (at left) with some modifications.
The new building is now expected to be a one-story structure that
will be located at the top of the hill on the East side of the property.
The projected cost is $1.2 million, and with the money on hand now,
we could possibly lay a foundation and complete the sanctuary. If
you would like to contribute to this project, please designate “Building
Fund” on your checks.

IN REVIEW
2006 was a significant year for B'rit. We hosted a number of special
guests (Stuart Winograd, Dan & Patty Juster, Don Finto, Ashley
Crane, Marc Chopinsky, David Friedman, Zemer Levav, Joel Chernoff,
and others). Several classes were held (year-round Torah study,
a class on Encountering the Cults & World Religions, Hebrew
Workshops, a Dance Workshop, a 9-week study in James), and the Men
of Joy group completed a study in the book Wild at Heart. The congregation
went through a preaching series based on the book Hearing God, and
saw five new people immersed in water as a profession of faith in
Yeshua. B'rit participated in the local Walk for Life and Life-Chain
events, sent representatives to numerous area churches and groups
to speak, held it's annual community Passover seder as well as a
joint prayer service with Christ United Methodist Church and held
the Pifer Memorial Lectureship. Our building saw improvements as
new carpeting and flooring were installed, areas were repainted,
and the building received a much-needed new roof. The congregation
was saddened when Gary Shansky, longtime rabbi of the congregation,
stepped down at the end of August. We entered into a committed time
of 6 months for prayer and fasting as we sought God for direction.
All in all, there were times of sorrow and there were times of rejoicing.
God has been faithful through it all. To Him be the glory!

SHANSKY
HEALTH UPDATES
In January our former rabbi Gary Shansky learned that he had lung
cancer, and that it had widely spread. A gamma knife procedure was
successfully done to kill a small spot in the brain, and he then began
chemotherapy treatment for the other areas. His body has handled the
chemotherapy well, and he is 2/3 of the way through the initial treatment.
He will find out in late March how effective it has been, and they’ll
determine the next step. You can visit our website (www.brithadasha.org)
and either view the Shansky update page or sign up for BRITmail, our
email list service, and we’ll send you updates via email as
they occur. Notes, cards, & emails can be sent to B’rit
Hadasha and will be forwarded to the Shanskys. Thank you to everyone
for your prayers on their behalf.

6
MONTHS OF PRAYER & FASTING
B’rit Hadasha just completed 6 months of prayer & fasting
to seek God following the news that Rabbi Gary was stepping down.
Individuals have been forming a chain of prayer by taking turns
daily and committing themselves to intercession. The last 6 weeks
of this period we held nightly prayer meetings, and then concluded
this time with a 3 day fast (like Esther) which led us up to Purim.
Our Purim celebration was held at Ascension Towers where we were
joined by a good number of the senior residents there as well as
a representative group from Church of the Redeemer Episcopal. Nightly
intercessory prayer will continue indefinitely until further notice,
each night at 7pm. Contact the office for the current schedule.
