Trusting in the Promise – Rom 4:13-25
Paul’s central point in this chapter is that G-d-fearing Gentiles DO NOT need to become Jewish, by undergoing the proselyte conversion ritual, in order to be saved. They can, and should, remain Gentiles because they do not need to become Jewish to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
The “promise” depends on faith, rather than on being Jewish, so that the promise may rest on grace alone and all the nations may be blessed through Abraham. It was this faith that played out through the years of Abraham’s life as faithfulness. Now we all, Jews and those from the nations, can partake in this same promise through faith in Messiah.
