This week in Shabbat School, we talked about Moses coming before Pharaoh and asking him to let Adonai’s people go.
In life, G‑d sometimes repeats His messages because we don’t listen the first time. Usually, His initial communication is gentle, but if we ignore it, He will use other means to get our attention, often through uncomfortable circumstances.
In this Parashat, the children explored how G‑d sent the message to the Pharaoh to let His people go, but the Egyptians did notobey and endured significant pain and discomfort before they had no choice but to obey. The purpose of our lesson is to help children remember to obey the first time, before difficulties arise.
Next week we will see the Children of Israel freed from Egypt and free to worship Adonai.
