Building G-d’s story last Shabbat, we observed that G-d used not only Joseph, but also his brother Judah. Judah chose to be Chazak (Courageous) and protect his younger brother Benjamin. Unbeknownst to him, G-d would turn his previous poor decision into a blessing. In the end, Judah’s decision to show Chazak!—courage to stand up for his brother—inspired our children through this portion of G-d’s story. They learned that they too can stand up for friends or siblings, even if it’s scary, and to choose bravery.
